Do You Name Your Turkey?

Every family has traditions, and ours is no different! One of our favorite things to do every year is to give our turkey a name. It’s silly, it’s fun, and it makes Thanksgiving interesting! The kids spend all year long suggesting names for our Thanksgiving turkey. Coming up with the final name is always a BIG DEAL! Especially if you happen to be the one who came up with the name! The only rule is…it HAS to start with the letter T. So, any time we hear a clever “T” name, we take mental note! Even the kids have been involved!

Here are some of our favorites from the past few years, plus a few suggestions:

  • Thomas. The more formal of Tom. To give him respect. This also works for a big “Thomas the Train” fan.
  • Tinkerbell. After the beloved Peter Pan fairy. You can bet that Daddy didn’t come up with that!
  • Tyson. The year that the “Hangover” movie came, this was our choice.
  • Tucker. For a “boy band” feel.
  • T-Pain. After the artist.
  • Ice-T. For the rapper, singer, actor… And it’s overall coolness.
  • Turner. After Daddy’s favorite iced tea, but not to be confused with Ice-T.
  • General Tso. For the flavorful turkey with a little kick!

Or some clever names that other families have shared…

  • Moose. The big turkey.
  • Pablo. Who wouldn’t love a turkey named Pablo?
  • Zebediah. For the family that ordered their turkey from an Amish turkey farm.
  • Tiny. Another great name for a big, burly turkey…or a motorcycle enthusiast 😉
  • Sven. The “Frozen” turkey.

Or how about Gobbles? Feather-bum? Chuckles? Gertrude? Giblet? Or Charles? All silly suggestions from our staff!

Isn’t it WAY more fun to say, “Honey, can you go baste Ice-T?” instead of just “Baste the turkey”. What other ways do you make your holidays silly and fun for the family? Share with us! If you name your turkey, TELL US!

And have a great holiday with your family!
